I had never done a presentation before and it was something that REALLY REALLY REALLY scared me!! :-S ! i`ve gained alot of experience from this and it is such a big confidence boost for people when they`ve said the last word and its all gone well! To me, my part of the presentation didnt feel like it went as good as it could have, but from the feedback off everyone it seemed like i covered my nerves quite well! "whitch i was absolutely chuffed about because thre was ALOT of nerves to hide"!! i didnt think there was so much involved, and its showed me that you do need to think about every little thing! getting the presentation toghethter between the trainiees, was quite difficult! so Next time were gonna have to think a little more about managing time! also ive learnt when doing a presentation as a team, there has to be alot of communication used, whitch i feel we lacked a little in. personally i think weve all learnt from this! but apart from this i think the outcome was AWSUM and everyone did BRILL, we all did our parts the best we could and answered the questions to the best of our knowledge! GOOD EFFORT TO ALL!

a taster of community development work!!

Before xmas i was kinda based at topic house, At first i thought it was not my cup of tea but when i actually found out about topic and met the people there I think its absolutely brilliaint place its very warm and welcoming, (with tea and cake :-) )! Its not just about the elder people of the community but its always having ideas for all ages! Having been helping julie for her project the lantern parade, I feel its really helped me to see what community development work is all about. Basically i think its about helping the people of the community to UNDERSTAND they can ACHIEVE what THEY want and GUIDING them in the right directions for doin so! during my first couple of days at topic we had a lot of lantern workshops to attend, I thouroughly enjoyed it and it shocked me that within two days i had worked with all different types of people at all ages ranging from young children to the older people, Also people with disabilities! everyone in the workshops was up for the challenge it was awesome!! On the night it was just great to see that the work had paid off for everyone and i think from the atmosphere everyone involved had enjoyed, also it definately sucseeded in bringing the community together! I hope i will be involved in other future projects like this!!! GOOD EFFORT JULIE!!!

Cultural diversity

I was suprised about the course yesterday, i didnt expect it to be as interesting as it was! i really enjoyed the course finding out about other peoples cultures and the way they have to do certain things! its also given me a different outlook on certain issues that have been looked at in the past as wrong by some people! but listening to the speakers yesterday, it shows that everything is done for a reason! also its helped me to be more aware of certain issues that come along with different cultures! so yes the course has done its job!! I was made to feel very welcome and everyone helped me feel comfortable! It took me a couple of days to get used to the building, and now have a good idea of my way around! My first day, to be honest seems a long time ago already, but what I remember of it, it was just a day for getting to know people and the building! I enjoyed going out with Maggie as she was a trainee before and she gave me a good insight to what it involves, I found out about a lot of projects which I had not seen before!
Day 2, I found today very difficult as it was 1 of my first training sessions, I did not know what to expect, I felt it was a lot of information to take in and was very stressed going home!
Day 3, we went out to the toddlers and mums group, which i really enjoyed! In the afternoon we visited the Dragon Arts Centre and the Womens Centre and basically found out a bit about the both!
Day 4, we had a web log course which was a lot easier than I thought, dont know what I expected! Then we spent the rest of the day bloggin!
Day 5, study skills which was very useful to me, then we went to the Ark! By the end of the week my head was in the shed !! but when it came to Monday, after seeing Julies' presentation and speaking to Sian, Phil, Julie and Gethin it chilled me out! knowing that they felt the same! Training on refugee awareness real good as it totally changed my view on the subject, even though I feel the course maybe could of been a bit longer!
2nd week Tuesday, training with marsha was very different to my first week as I feel I participated a lot more and understood the session much better!
Wednesday, commitee skills, this course seemed to fly by and I understand a lot more about committees!!
Today, I've met nearly every1 even though I can't remember their names well some of them and have kind of got an idea about what most people do here! I've enjoyed the two weeks of being here and feel I've settled in kind of well!

We got fun!
